Laboratory Animal Center
The Center for Animal Resources is part of the TMU Office of Research and Development. The center provides animal husbandry, veterinary services and personnel training program for TMU faculty and staff.

The two animal husbandry areas are located in two separate buildings.
1. United Medical Building
- Husbanding of mice, rats, and hamsters in the Conventional Area.
- Husbanding of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) mouse, rat in the Barrier Area.

2. Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology Building
- Husbanding of New Zealand white rabbits, guinea pigs, and leghorn chickens.

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) was established in accordance with Council of Agriculture Laws and Regulations and is qualified with the experience and expertise to oversee all animal use activities including the review of animal use protocols as well as animal care and use program. The IACUC monitors the institution’s animal facilities in compliance to the standards and regulations.
The Center for Animal Resources also has a mandatory training program on guidance and regulations to ensure that all animal users are qualified to handle the animals.
The Taipei Medical University Library (TMUL) was established in 1962.
It was originally located in the Mu-Shan Learning Center with an area of only 500 m2. In 2004, the library was moved to the United Medical building with an area of 3,300 m2 where it currently contains around 140,000 volumes of books and bound journals within its collection. In addition to circulation services, the library also provides high quality information services such as reference services, inter-library loans, and selective dissemination of information (SDI). Over the years, two branches of the library have been opened in Wan-Fan Hospital (1997) and Shuang-Ho Hospital (2008). Each has an area of 360 m2.. The TMUL’s award-winning reputation is gaining recognition and branching out.

To support education and research, the library integrates information sessions with specific majors, holds many activities and contests, carries more than 10 copies of newspapers and 169 titles of magazines on any given day, and runs a variety of book and fine art exhibitions all year round. The TMUL encourages users to make good use of the library’s resources and expects this environment to be the best possible place for patrons to enjoy themselves while they are here.

Located in the Xin-Yi District, in the heartland of downtown Taipei, TMUL strives to provide the best quality of service in medical research and education. It contains plenty of academic electronic resources while continuously improving the quality and quantity of services to fulfill every patron’s needs.Currently, the library has subscriptions to around 15,000 e-Journal titles, 75,000 e-books, and 105 different e-Databases.All of the electronic resources can be accessed via the Electronic Resources Management system. With the establishment of the “Digital Library,” all TMUL patrons can use the electronic resources wherever they are, whenever they want
Core Facility Center
The Core Facility Center was founded in August 1994. It coordinates between various departments and sets the standards for research and academy. In August 2005, the Core Facility Center and the Office of Research and Development underwent a merger to integrate the academic resources. The center is located on the 3rd floor of the Academic Research Building and features a valuable instrument room, a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) room, an electron microscopy room, a common research room (located on the 3rd floor of the Academic Research Building) and a Stroke Research Center (located on the 6th floor of the Medical Comprehensive Building). With a variety of valuable instrument, the center enhances teamwork through centralized management by sharing the resources.

The center is managed by the department head and several technicians. The high precision instruments are available only to professionally trained technicians; however, researchers are welcome to use the general equipment. The instrument in Common Research Room A and the Stroke Research Center is available 24 hours a day with users’ demand. To encourage school members in using the equipment, the center adopts a low fee standard and hosts equipment application seminars to provide training on operation of the various equipment.

Aiming to become a leading university, the center focuses on integrating the school, Taipei Medical University Hospital, Wanfang Hospital and the Shuang Ho Hospital. The center also focuses on optimizing instrument management, improving usage rates and enhancing research capacity. The instruments integrated include genomic and proteomic equipment, a liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometer (LC-MS-MS), confocal microscope, laser capture microscope, microsequencer, NMR, MRI, PET, biplane, the most advanced 64-cut 3D light speed VCT, IGRT, CyberKnife, and IVIS.
